TCM and Spring

Spring is the Wood season. It’s characterized by being open to growth and becoming. But also creativity and change🌱. The Wood element is one of the 5 elements and connected the Liver (and Gallbladder), an organ that is related to sour flavors and the emotion of anger.

When wood is unbalanced

Just like the Qi, yin and yang, fluids and blood, the Wood element (and Liver) needs to be in balance. When it’s not you may experience symptoms such as: feelings of irritability and anger, headaches/migraines, high blood pressure, rib pain, eye problems and muscle aches😩

TCM tips

As the liver is associated with sour taste. Support your liver by adding cooling food, such as: sour apples, lemon, vinegar green vegetables, chrysanthemum team and more 🍏🍋🥦. Always combine them with neutral foods (potatoes, bread, rice, pork etc.), and don’t eat the sour foods on an empty stomach.

Another way is to stretch and soften the muscles and tendons. This can prevent pain and improve blood and qi circulation.

Acupuncture can be especially beneficial for supporting your internal organs and the balance during this season of change. Every seasonal change has a little bit of effect on our health. So maybe come by for acupuncture to help you with this or even regulate allergies 💆‍♀️ Scroll down to book a nice welcome back session!
